Soccer

While the sport might have started as a winter sport at Rockhurst in the 70s – it has grown to be a fall tradition – which includes many trips to the Final Four.

Recently, Coach Darby has helped to guide the Hawklets to national acclaim as National Champions in 2023 and won three State Championships in a row in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Rockhurst made the Final Four again in both 2024 and 2025, for a streak of five consecutive appearances (placed 3rd in 2024, 2nd in 2025). The 2025 season ended with a record of 23-1-1 and peaked at #3 in the country. Five players were named All-State, and Asende Welongo ’26 earned his second All-American honors. He finished his Rockhurst career with the most goals in a season (37) and career (99), as well as the most career points (228).

But the program is not only defined by trophies and banners as there is a strong camaraderie and a technical style of play.

There are four teams in the program (Varsity, JV, C team, and freshman) with tryouts being held the first week of the season.
