Cross Country

Cross country at Rockhurst has a strong tradition in team focus and pack racing. The endurance sport allows for individuals to set their goals based upon ability and priorities, but they are all challenged to find a way to positively impact the team.

Divided into levels based on ability – there is the A group (most advanced), the B group (building to get to the top group), the C group (adding spirit and depth to the program) and the Freshman group (to allow for acclimating and peer bonding).

All types of athletes can become valued and successful distance runners and Rock XC embraces all those who are Hard Working – Competitive – Fun-Loving!

The 2024 season included the program’s third State Championship (and third individual State Champ, Henry Acorn ’25), as well as the program’s first Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) qualification; Rockhurst finished 13th at Nationals.

In 2025, the Hawklets earned a 19th consecutive State qualification and placed 8th. They were led by the fourth individual State Champ, Jack McGovern ’28, who went on place 4th at Nike Regionals and 10th at NXN – finishing as the top sophomore in the country at NXN.
